| MISSION | |||
Tanzania Life Project is a certified 501(c)(3) charitable organization that is dedicated to helping the poor people of small villages in Tanzania, Africa, to develop a better quality of life, and to reach a point of self sustenance. Our success comes from empowering the villagers to help themselves, providing experienced mentors to educate and work cooperatively with them and keep the size of our projects within the means of our support.
In our short history, we have helped Tanzanian villagers do the following to address crucial basic needs:
- Implement wells for drinking water - Run electrical lines to the village to support education, healthcare and simple industry - Support development of small businesses to generate income - Promote Women's Rights education to change cultural norms preventing social growth - Team with Abbott Labs to treat HIV/AIDS victims and orphans of victims
There is still much more to do. We will continue to work with these and other Tanzanian villagers to support their efforts to journey out of poverty and become active members of the social and economic community within Tanzania and the world.
Tanzania Life Project is a certified 501(c)(3) charitable organization and all donations are tax deductible. | |||

| FINANCIALS | |||
| 2009 was our fifth year as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. We take great pride in maximizing the proportion of our funds that go directly to benefit the Tanzanian villagers' efforts. Management of this organization is accomplished primarily by the volunteer and unpaid efforts of the Chairman and Founder, James Vanderheyden. This is the main reason for the low percentage of management expenses during these early years of the organization. Our overall financial breakdown was as follows: | |||
| |||
| Program Expenses | $120,455 | ||
| Administrative Expenses | $1,800 | ||
| Fundraising Expenses | $2,090 | ||
| Fundraising Efficiency | 97% ($.97 of every $1.00 raised went to direct help for the villagers) | ||
| TAX FORMS | |||
