You can read more about our goals in the Newsletter section of this website. I just wanted to give you a quick bird’s eye view of things at this point in time. We have reached a point of maturity in our organization, as we begin our 7th year of operation in late 2011. We have turned the corner in many ways. We have stabilized our operating plans over this time, and continue to grow at a swift pace! In addition to our home office here in Osseo, Minnesota, our board approved the opening of our branch office in Dodoma, Tanzania in mid 2007, (this is known as an NGO – Non-Governmental Organization in Tanzania). The poor villages we support, surround this central Tanzania city. We have 3 wonderful people from that area working on our behalf, operating out of this office. Our growth has already forced us to double the size of our initial office of about 120 square feet, to about 265 feet. Three years ago, we purchased a used 1995 Mitsubishi Pajero SUV type vehicle, which our people now use to get from village to village. Once a year – every September – we go to Dodoma and spend time there, and the surrounding village area, reviewing what has been accomplished in the past year, and developing plans for what we will be doing in the next 12 month period. The plans are then brought to our annual board meeting in late October where they are discussed and modified for final board approval, along with a budget for the coming year. We are at a pace now, where we have 2 fund drives each year, to support program needs. We were certified in early 2008 by the Charities Review Council after meeting all 16 different accountability standards for credible non-profits on a continuing basis. We have just been recertified in 2011 for meeting all 27 of their updated list of accountability standards. You can find out more about this by clicking on their seal just below. The Abbott Fund continues to be a very strong partner of ours in the fight against HIV/AIDS. We started in 2008 with a $10,000 12 month pilot program which has grown each year since then to the point where our grants are now over $30,000 per year. This support has allowed us to service some 200 victims and 150 orphans of victims. We feel so fortunate to have Abbott Fund with us on this very important effort!! The demand for water and other support is incredible. Our office staff in Dodoma received multiple written requests and applications from 60 villages in just the past few years. So you can see, the need, is virtually endless. Nonetheless, we will do what we can to put a dent in this need. We have now completed most of the work in the first 5 villages, and have begun work on the 6th village – named Isangha. We continue to support Mtumba, Chisichili, Chikola, Kisima cha Ndege, and the latest one – Matumbulu. You can get more information and pictures on all of these fine villages by clicking on the village name in the map below (note the 3 villages receiving HIV/AIDS support). We hope you will take this opportunity to visit the other portions of our beautiful website. We are constantly trying to improve it as we go, to make it easier to get the message to you about what is going on over there. You are most welcome to join us on this wonderful venture, with your prayers, your physical presence, and/or your financial help. You can even DONATE NOW right here on our website! Jim Vanderheyden
